  • Speaker: Dr Falk Eippert
  • Location: Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences
  • Room: Computer Training Room (A412)
  • Host: IMPRS CoNI
  • Contact: imprs-coni@cbs.mpg.de

Description
We will start with basic operations on vectors and matrices and will also briefly look at non-numeric data. We will then cover conditional statements and iterative statements and will work on writing simple scripts. We will also look at how to get data into and out of Matlab and how to plot data in various simple ways. We will spend a large amount of time on how to write (and debug) more complex pieces of code, using functions. If time permits, we will also cover some of the following topics that can be helpful during typical research projects: i) using regular expressions, ii) using different data types, iii) integrating Matlab with other tools, v) interacting graphically with a user, and vi) more complex data visualization. Ideally, we will also spend quite some time on data analysis.
