Journey descriptions:

By car

From the North: From the Autobahn (national highway) A9, take the A14 at Schkeuditzer Kreuz until exit no. 17a (Leipzig-Mitte). From there, drive straight ahead on the Maximilianallee (B2), following the directions to Gera and Chemnitz. This street ends at a T-junction (with the Prager Straße), at which you should turn right in the direction of Leipzig city centre. Take the second street on the left, which is the Stephanstraße. The institute is immediately visible on the left-hand side of the next intersection.
From the South: Leave the A9 at exit no. 18 (Leipzig-West). Follow the signs to Leipzig city centre (initially on road B181, which then turns into B87). You will eventually pass Leipzig central train station (which is on your left), after which the road splits and you should turn right. Then take the next street left, which is the Pragerstraße. From here, the Stephanstraße is the third street on the right. The institute is immediately visible on the left-hand side of the next intersection.

By train

From Leipzig central station, the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences is approx. a 20 minute walk away (see the map). The cost of a taxi is approx. EUR 10. Alternatively, you can take a tram (line 4 to Stötteritz, line 7 to Sommerfeld, line 12 to Johannisplatz/Technisches Rathaus, or line 15 to Meusdorf) and get off at the second stop, "Johannisplatz". Continue walking in the direction of the tram and take the second street on the right (Stephanstraße). The institute is immediately visible on the left-hand side of the next intersection.

By plane

Either fly directly into "Leipzig-Halle" (LEJ) airport or, alternatively, fly into Frankfurt and then take an express train (ICE) to Leipzig (approx. 3 hours). There is a train service between the airport train station and Leipzig central station, with trains leaving every 30 minutes. The journey time is 15 minutes (including a stop at the "Neue Messegelaende"). The price of a taxi from the airport to the Max Planck Institute is approximately EUR 50.
