Research in the mind and brain sciences has the potential to change the world for the better. Yet, over the last decade, the replication crisis has shown that many published studies should not be taken at face value, due to problems such as small sample sizes, pressure to publish, and p-hacking. The open science movement tries to counter these problems and promote research that is more transparent and trustworthy. Over the course of one day, we will delve deeply into the reasons that led to the replication crisis, potential solutions, and how to apply them to our own cognitive-neuroscientific research.
