Research Interests

How does the human brain adapt to challenges? Our research group is interested in systems neuroplasticity as a mechanism for adaptation during cognition. We study flexible interactions of neural networks for different cognitive domains with functional neuroimaging and neurostimulation (TMS, tACS, tDCS, concurrent TMS-fMRI) in healthy young, aging, and lesioned brains. We also develop novel network stimulation approaches to advance the current knowledge of adaptive systems plasticity in neural networks for higher cognitive functions.

Available PhD projects

  1. Probing network interactions and short-term plasticity for different cognitive domains with network neurostimulation
  2. Age-related changes in network interactions and plasticity at the systems level
  3. Compensation, reorganization, and plasticity after brain lesions
